Ashton Memorial in Williamson Park, Lancaster has to be one of the most stunning settings in England for a civil wedding ceremony. Back in 2011 we photographed Rachel and Reuben’s autumn Ashton Memorial wedding and fell in love with the venue, so we were really excited when Becky and Nathan got in touch to see if we were available to capture their wedding there in summer 2013.
The day arrived and the weather was beautiful with gorgeous blue skies and sunshine.
Becky and Nathan had booked our six hour package and we started the day by capturing the arrival of the groom, wedding party and guests.
Then Becky and her father arrived.
Becky’s dress, which was a wedding gift from her grandma, was just stunning.
A group hug with her best friends before the big entrance.
Then it was time to head into Ashton Memorial to her waiting groom.
The wedding ceremony itself was lovely.
Then, with massive grins, the newlyweds left the building and were showered with confetti by their families and friends.
After Becky and Nathan had enjoyed some champagne and time with their guests, we sneaked off with just the two of them for a short while.
Then it was off to Thurnham Hall, where Becky and Nathan’s guests were already enjoying a drinks reception on the lawn and where the rest of the wedding celebrations were to be held.
This was our first time photographing a wedding reception at Thurnham Hall and we loved it. The grounds are beautiful and they have ducks!
Inside Thurnham Hall is lovely too.
The dining room had been set beautifully for the wedding breakfast.
The speeches were great and got a brilliant response.
Nathan’s best man delivered his speech entirely in rhyme, it was just fantastic.
After the cutting of the cake, we left the newlyweds and their guests to enjoy the rest of the evening. It was a fantastic wedding to capture and we really enjoyed editing the images ready to send to Becky and Nathan. The day after we had posted the disc off to them, we were delighted to get an email from Becky which read “Hi Sarah, The DVD arrived this lunch time – I couldn’t even wait until after work so I’ve just rushed home to see them! We can’t thank you both enough, they are incredible and we love every single one! They bought back every single emotion of the day, I didn’t even know pictures could do that! I cannot wait to go home and look at them all again later, we’re so happy we picked you to photograph our day. Thank you so much!”
