Cerys and Ross got married at the Grand Hotel in Tynemouth at the end of March. We had met up with them earlier in the year for a pre-wedding shoot and had all had a really good laugh together, so we knew photographing their wedding was going to be great too.
In the morning I joined Cerys, her bridesmaids and her parents at her parents house for the bridal preparations. When I arrived, Cerys’s chief bridesmaid was giving her a present while her hair was being done.
Cerys was smiling and laughing all morning, even when her makeup was being done.
The bridesmaids’ first sight of Cerys in her wedding dress.
Cerys had got some great gifts for her bridesmaids including personalised mugs and lovely necklaces.
Cerys’s mum and dad looked really smart.
Meanwhile Mark was with Ross and his brothers at the Grand Hotel where they were getting ready.
The boys headed off to St Bartholomew Church in Benton where the wedding ceremony was to take place.
Then it was time for Cerys and her dad to make their way to the church too.
St Bartholomew is a beautiful church and provided a great setting for the lovely service.
With big smiles, the newlyweds left the church and greeted their families and friends.
After being showered with confetti, it was off to Tynemouth for the reception at the Grand Hotel.
The speeches were hilarious.
After the meal we had a little wander around the hotel with Cerys and Ross so we could get some photographs of just the two of them. First however, I couldn’t resist snapping this shot of Ross’s gorgeous little niece on her dad’s shoulder.
Then it was time for the evening reception. Cerys and Ross’s cake had been made by a very talented friend.
The first dance.
After we had posted the images to Cerys and Ross, they messaged us to let us know they loved their images. And later we received a lovely email from them which read: “We just wanted to say a huge thank you again for photographing our wedding – overdue we know, but that’s because its hard to put into words just how much we love our photos. It might sound a cliché but they capture the story of the day so perfectly that, on viewing them, we are instantly transported back to the emotions of the day. Your pictures allow us to do that in way we didn’t expect. As Ross said in his speech, in the build up to the big day your help and guidance was invaluable and on the day you put us and our guests at ease. We feel we have made new friends in you both and look forward to staying in touch.”
