The Manor House Hotel in the County Durham village of West Auckland is a great venue for a wedding with an impressive history (Henry VIII is said to have used the hotel as a hunting lodge). After having spent a lovely spa weekend at the Manor House Hotel a year earlier, Sarah and Alex decided when they got engaged that they would hold their wedding ceremony and reception at the hotel.
It was gorgeous weather the day of their wedding. We arrived at the hotel nice and early as Sarah was getting ready there..
Whilst Mark took photographs of the hotel and its grounds, I headed to the bridal suite to capture Sarah’s preparations. The beautiful room with its four poster bed provided a great backdrop for images of Sarah’s gorgeous dress, flowers and shoes.
A very special guest of honour at Sarah and Alex’s wedding was their young son James. James had stopped at home with dad Alex the night before the wedding while Sarah was at the Manor House Hotel, and so Sarah was so excited to see him when he arrived in the morning.
Sarah’s hair and makeup looked beautiful.
I couldn’t take enough photographs of James, he was too cute for words.
Then it was time for Sarah to get into her dress.
Once Sarah was ready I headed off to introduce myself to the registrar while Mark captured some lovely images of Sarah with her bridesmaids and flower girl.
Whilst Mark was capturing images of Sarah making her way to the ceremony hall, I was capturing images of Alex, his best man and James as they waited for Sarah’s arrival.
Sarah walked into the Knights Hall on her dad’s arm.
The wedding ceremony was lovely. Sarah and Alex couldn’t stop smiling.
After Sarah and Alex had greeted their guests, we captured some images of them and James.
We also captured some images of just the two of them.
The Knights Hall proved to be not only a great setting for the wedding ceremony but also for the wedding breakfast.
The wedding cake was beautiful too.
During the receiving line we were able to capture some lovely relaxed images of Sarah and Alex with their guests.
Then came the speeches, which were great.
After a lovely wedding breakfast, Sarah and Alex had their first dance and then we left them and their guests to dance the night away.
We care so much about ensuring our wedding couples are delighted with how we work and the images we capture for them, so we were really pleased to get a lovely thank you card from Sarah and Alex after they had received their disc of images. It read: “We would just like to say a huge thank you for our wedding photos! We absolutely love them. So many to pick from for prints. I have been recommending you to anyone who will listen. Thanks again. Lots of love, Sarah and Alex xxxxx”
