We are always happy to travel to photograph weddings taking place outside of the North East of England, and when Sara and Tim contacted us to ask if we would photograph their wedding on the North Yorkshire coast we leapt at the chance as it’s an area of the country we love. The wedding was taking place at the Raven Hall Country House Hotel in Ravenscar, between Whitby and Scarborough. The hotel sits on cliff-tops overlooking Robin Hood’s Bay and the views are truly breathtaking.
Mark and I stopped in Robin Hood’s Bay the night before the wedding and so it was an easy five minute drive to the hotel the next morning where I joined Sara for her bridal preparations in one of the lovely wooden lodges in the hotel grounds.
Sara’s hairstyle, makeup and dress all looked gorgeous.
Dressed and ready with plenty of time to spare, Sara and her bridesmaids drank champagne together and exchanged lovely cards and gifts.
There were stunning views from balcony of the lodge and so it was a perfect spot for a photograph of Sara’s amazing shoes.
I made the most of the time available and captured some nice relaxed portraits on the balcony too, including one of Sara and her mum and another of Sara with her bridesmaids.
Meanwhile, Mark was with Tim and his best man in the lovely hotel grounds.
Then it was time to head to the ceremony hall where the nervous excitement began to show.
Sara was walked down the aisle by her father and step-father who both looked immensely proud.
The wedding ceremony was lovely.
Braving a confetti corridor.
We went off for a walk with Sara and Tim to capture some images of them against the amazing backdrop of the cliff-edge battlements.
Back inside Raven Hall Hotel we captured some shots of family and friends.
We also captured some lovely wedding details including their great travel-themed table plan, the autumnal table decorations and their wedding cake which celebrated their shared love of diving.
The speeches were brilliant and had everyone in stitches.
Sara and Tim are a lovely couple and theirs was a great wedding to photograph. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to capture their day for them.
